Trailer and equipment welding repair in Orange County
A trailer with a cracked frame is not a metal problem, it is a downtime problem. Same for a cracked bucket ear, a bent rack, a broken tailgate hinge, or a mount that finally let go. The clock that matters is how long the thing is out of service, which is why this work happens where the equipment sits.
Trailer frames crack in the same places over and over. At the tongue to frame joint, at the spring hangers, where the axle attaches, and at the corners of any cutout. All of those are stress concentrations, and welding the crack shut without dealing with the concentration means it comes back a few months later three inches down the rail. We drill stop the end of the crack, gouge it out to full depth, weld it, and add a gusset, doubler, or fishplate so the load goes around instead of through.
Safety critical parts get a straight answer instead of a repair. Couplers, hitches, and axle spindles are load rated components, and a repaired one is not a rated one. If the right answer is a new part, that is what we will tell you, and we will weld the mount for it correctly.
What that includes.
- Trailer frames, tongues, spring hangers, and crossmembers
- Cracks drill stopped, gouged out, and reinforced
- Racks, ladder racks, headache racks, and bumpers
- Equipment buckets, mounts, brackets, and guards
- Replacement sections fabricated when the original is past repair
- At the yard, the shop, the job, or the driveway
Questions we get on this one.
My trailer frame is cracked. Is it safe to tow it to you?
Do not assume it is. Send a photo of the crack and where it sits. A crack in a rail near the axle or the tongue is the kind that gets worse fast under load, and that is exactly why we come to you instead.
Can you repair a hitch or a coupler?
We do not repair rated coupling components. A coupler is stamped with a load rating and welding on it voids that rating. We will fit a new rated part and weld the mount properly.
How fast can you get to it?
Sometimes same day, when we are close and the job is small. Say what it is and what city when you call, and you will get a real window rather than a hopeful one.
Aluminum trailers?
Aluminum runs a different process than the structural rig. Ask when you call and we will tell you straight whether it is work we take.
